If you join the family at CrossFit SAW, we take your membership seriously. And we firmly believe that we’re successful when you’re successful.
One of the things we love to do at CrossFit SAW is… celebrate!
Our members come to our gym for a number of reasons. They want to lose fat. They hope to gain muscle mass. They want to ready themselves for the summer season. They want to train for a specific sport. But, ultimately, they want to live longer, happier and healthier lives. In our experience we have found that no two members are alike.
Different goals, different strategies for reaching those goals, and different outcomes along the way. We meet you where you are, an celebrate as you get to where you’re going.
But don’t just take our word for it. Check out some of our member success stories below.
Recently, a picture was on Facebook after a Saturday morning workout CrossFit SAW. The picture caught me completely by surprise because “I don’t really look like that do I?” My girls assured me “yes you do mom! Stop wearing all that baggy clothing.” So here’s what happened. After many years of telling myself I don’t have time for anything else in my schedule, I decided it was time to take action. In 2014, I committed to nutrition, while still incorporating independent exercise. Had some success, but couldn’t quite make the nutrition/exercise plan as successful as I thought. In 2016, I decided to walk through the doors of CrossFit SAW. At last, I was able to have fun with my exercise routine; and the Nutritionist helped bring my diet and supplements into a plan that worked for me. The 2017 photo shows what can happen when you commit to yourself, and have supportive family, coaches and friends. I am still a work in progress and would love to share more of my story with you anytime.
Youth Bulldog Club
“Dawson has been in the Bulldog Club for only three months and it has already been life changing, both for his body and mind. He has learned proper weight lifting techniques which has kept him free from injury. He has gained noticeable muscle definition and improved his speed, agility, and strength in a short period of time. As a young teenager, our son is more confident and self-assured in himself than before. He is also reaping the benefits of better performance on the baseball field. The Bulldog Club coaches have been great instructors and motivators bringing both knowledge and fun to keep these young athletes coming back for more. We were only planning to enroll Dawson for a few months to prepare for baseball season, but thanks to the tremendous success we have witnessed, we plan to keep him in it indefinitely. This is a great youth program, I recommend it to anyone and all athletic levels.” -Michele Jones
Wes - The Garage Gym Guy
Before joining CrossFit SAW, I worked out in my basement for a couple of years. Eventually, I grew bored of it and stumbled upon a CrossFit video on YouTube. I would “teach” myself all of the moves that an 8-ft ceiling would allow and try to mimic the workouts from the videos. The only problem was that everyone in the videos looked like they were having way more fun because they were working out together. I had heard about CrossFit SAW, but thought I could save some money by continuing to work out in my basement. Then a good friend joined SAW and would tell me all that was going on in the gym, including how much fun he was having. A few months later, I made some room in my budget and decided to join.
Since then, I have made so many great friends that provide constant motivation and encouragement. I have learned so much from our coaches, including how everything I taught myself in my basement would eventually lead to injury. They take the extra time needed to correct my form and ensure that I will not get injured due to any incorrect movements (which can’t be said about every CrossFit gym). I am essentially getting daily personal training and programming for the price of 2 or 3 normal sessions.
Going to SAW is now one of the best parts of my day that is absolutely worth every penny!
Christine - The Working Mom and Nutrition Success Story
I began CrossFit at SAW in January of 2015, overweight, intimidated and a stranger to weightlifting and cardio. CrossFit was all foreign to me, but I love a challenge and any opportunity to better myself. It was a struggle at first, trying to make cardio my friend, trying to remember the proper lifting technique, and being the last person to finish a workout, but I stayed focused and was never alone. Always having the support and guidance of an excellent coach and the cheering and pushing from others in the class, kept the fire burning inside me. I never got discourages about being the last to finish because the goal was always to finish and do better than the day before. CrossFit quickly became an addiction, because I was able to see improvements nearly every single day, which added to my confidence. Becoming more acquainted with crossFit, I decided to focus my attention on weight loss and eating healthier to perform. With the help of Jamie, our in house nutritionist, I was able to get a better understanding of what needed to change in my daily eating habits. It took a while to implement all of those changes, but I began seeing results immediately. 19 months later, the results speak for themselves. I am back in my normal weight range, losing a total of 21 pounds, feeling strong and empowered, ready to take on challenges that are thrown at me daily. Dropping my pants size from a 14 down to a 6 proves that strong really is a beautiful thing.
Adam - The Working Dad
Before Crossfit I was the typical mid-thirties father of young kids with a sedentary job. Years of this lifestyle had led me to become overweight, lacking energy and motivation and unhealthy lab values. The high intensity workouts led by seasoned coaches is what attracted me to Crossfit SAW. Ultimately, I found this and so much more. What I didn’t expect was the supportive community and for the first time in my life I looked forward to working out. Over the last year and a half that I have been crossfitting, there have been improvements in all aspects of my life. Not only do I have the energy and fitness to keep up with my kids but I lost 25 lbs (3 in off waist) while increasing strength tremendously. The unseen impact is the drastic change in cholesterol (11 points) and triglycerides (124 points). Thank you Crossfit for bringing a new joy and health to this tired dad.
Chrissy - Avid Runner turned CrossFitter
I was a long-time runner and local gym member who knew I wasn’t getting the most out of my workouts. I was bored with running and I was ready for a change but I didn’t know what it was until I tried CrossFit. I was immediately hooked with the CrossFit technique of mixing cardio and weightlifting into one workout that was short and intense. The workouts felt like a personal training session but in a group style setting with motivation from everyone. I loved it! Almost four years later and now in my late 30s, I am in the best shape of my life. The coaches at CrossFit SAW always make the workouts fun and challenging. With experienced, supportive coaches who love what they are doing, I have always felt like I can hit my goals and continue to do so. I love feeling strong! At CrossFit SAW, I am part of a group of people devoted to eating well and fitness. Besides the obvious health benefits, CrossFit SAW has built a community around their gym. There are always extra-curricular activities such as nutrition challenges, yoga, mobility and Olympic lifting classes offered to help foster an overall healthy lifestyle for their members. I will be a member of CrossFit SAW for a long time.
Lauren - New Girl in the Area
A little over a year and a half ago, I decided to get back into crossfit. I found a gym that I absolutely loved and I knew I was hooked again. However, I found myself packing up to head to Fishersville, Va for a Physician Assistant Program. I knew that I would have to find another gym and knew exactly what I wanted. I was looking for a gym that focused on olympic lifting, had knowledgable coaches, incorporated those signature wods, and most importantly, positive people I could be surrounded by. Ten months ago I dropped in at SAW, joined the next day, and couldn’t be more happy. I’ve found friends, a support system, coaches that continually learn and teach, and a gym that I’m extremely thankful for.
Marlana - The Former Athlete
From an adolescent until my mid-20’s sports were my life. I played volleyball and softball – high school, college, rec leagues, travel ball, etc. It’s easier to stay semi-fit when you play ball every evening! We bought a treadmill so I could work out at home and even tried some of the Beach Body stuff. However, without the team approach or someone instructing me, I just lost all motivation. Thankfully I have an amazing and supportive husband who has a passion for fitness. He started with CrossFit SAW and immediately loved it. His personal results have been amazing, however, the workouts he told me about completely freaked me out. I couldn’t do some of that stuff! I thought CrossFit was nuts! However, I met several athletes there who were extremely supportive and very encouraging. They were normal and friendly! And they all kept saying ‘you can scale anything’. The coaches are patient, and very serious about not allowing you to hurt yourself. And I didn’t die the first couple weeks, so that in itself was an accomplishment! My body has started to lean out which is great, but I’m more happy to feel strong again. I feel healthy! And as a previous athlete, the camaraderie and competition helped spark something that has been gone for a while. I don’t have to think about what I’m going to do to get in a workout. Every day is different and there is a coach there to encourage you, set the pace and correct your form. I was also nervous about holding the others back, but that is truly not the case. Correct form is a top priority and there is a lot of focus on stretching and taking care of your body.If you are on the fence and need a spark in your fitness journey, give it a try. Come join the best Box around. You won’t regret it.
